It is great for professional horticulturalists and enthusiastic amateurs.? There is a level of commitment required to revise for the exams.?

Attainment of both the Certificate in Practical Horticulture and the Certificate in the Principles of Horticulture will result in learners achieving the Level 2 Certificate in the Principles and Practices of Horticulture. The combination of theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills will provide fully rounded capabilities. A formal certificate is issued by the RHS on successful completion of the qualification the learner is enrolled on.

More information is accessible at: https://www.rhs.org.uk/education-learning/qualifications-and-training/rhs-qualifications/level-two

The RHS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Horticulture provides learners with a solid theoretical grounding.

This offers an understanding behind the science of plants, such as how they function, nutrition, health, adaptations and various planting styles. Learners will also develop an understanding of the horticultural industry and the vital role plants play in enhancing biodiversity.

In order to achieve this qualification, learners must complete and achieve two examinations. These exams are paper-based and available in February and June each year. Sample exam papers are available for revision purposes.

Optional units:

This qualification will be entirely assessed by a summative, unseen written examination for each unit. Therefore examination 1 will cover Unit 1 (topics 1.1-1.4) and examination 2 will cover Unit 2 (topics 2.1-2.4).
