Course information
Come and learn sustainable skills in floristry; you will cover the principles and elements of design, hand-tied and gift wrapping, various floral arrangements, funeral and wedding design.
This course will cover all of the skills and techniques you will need to produce eco friendly floral designs, Covering a range of techniques, using seasonal blooms and foliage.
Tools/ equipment: Use tools and materials accurately, safely and correctly.
Research + enrichment: Online research of designs, technique and costings.
Sustainability: Upcycle floristry components and containers
Program teaching is delivered through a blend of classroom teaching and online learning, for example:
• Tutor demonstrations
• Practical activities
• Research discussions
You will be expected to work independently and engage in group tasks in order to develop your skills and knowledge. The course covers a range of techniques, skills, sustainability and an awareness of employment and other opportunities in the subject.
• How to use and explore a variety of techniques, tools and equipment.
• How to use materials, tools and equipment to produce different design arrangements
• How to identify commonly used flowers and foliage according to the season
• Create designs in a variety of sustainable mediums
• How to use primary and secondary colours
• How to use and store plant material, tools and equipment safely
• Develop an awareness of employment opportunities in the floristry industry.

• Unit 01 Use Materials, Tools and Equipment to Develop Craft Techniques (M/506/2674)
• Unit 02 Develop Craft Ideas (H/506/2672 )
• Unit 03 Create, Present and Evaluate Final Floristry Item (L/506/2679)
Equipment you will need:
For the first session you will need to bring a pen, writing pad and folder.
You will need a pair of floristry scissors (cost approx. £10 from Amazon) and a floristry knife (cost approx. £5 from Amazon)
Important - in addition to the course fees, your flowers, foliage and sundry items will cost between £20.00 and £25.00 per session. This is dependent on the size of the project that you are making- you are required to source flowers yourself. (from local Florist shops, supermarkets, flower farms etc)

• Eco friendly gift wrap and ribbon/ raffia
• Chicken wire
• Glass vase- suitable for a handtied bouquet
• A4 folder for portfolio
• Colour Photo printing of your completed practical designs.
