Course information

Advance Veterinary Nursing Diploma This module will cover the implementation and evaluation of the advanced nursing care of emergency surgical and critically ill medical animal patients, critical care procedures, patient monitoring and the legal and ethical considerations of nursing such patients. It will also cover advanced nursing procedures encountered in veterinary practice.

Module Aims:

• To be able to implement and manage the approach, support and care of emergency and critical care animal patients with an extensive range of conditions
• To be able to develop an analytical approach to evaluate the legal and ethical considerations of nursing emergency and critical care animal patients.
• To attain an advanced level of knowledge to enable students to critically evaluate the advanced nursing procedures associated with this area of veterinary nursing.

• Registered Veterinary Nurse (FdSc or L3 Diploma)
• GCSE 4 in Maths and English

Learners should be working in veterinary practice

Learners will be assessed via a case-study based assignment and an oral scenario-based assessment.

This will enable veterinary nurses to be successfully employed in veterinary practices and hospitals where emergency care forms a large part of the role.
