The City and Guilds Level 1 Award in Practical Horticulture Skills is an introduction into professional garden practice.

Topics covered will include the lifting, dividing and planting of herbaceous perennials; plant identification of a wide selection of plants and propagating plants from seeds.

Students will have their own area where they will grow a flower garden from seed.

You won't need any formal qualifications to enrol, but you must be enthusiastic about plants.

Learners will be assessed on their knowledge with practical and written tasks, and can then progress onwards to a level 2 qualification in horticulture.
