This one-year course will give you the basic knowledge and skills needed to work as an Animal Nursing Assistant in a veterinary practice. It is excellent preparation for our Level 3 Veterinary Nursing Diploma.
During the course you will learn the practical skills and the underpinning knowledge for all aspects of work in an assisting role within a veterinary practice, including animal handling and care of in-patients such as feeding and exercising. It will also include client interaction and administrative duties.
If you are between 16 and 18-years-old you will be attending the college one day a week, unless you need to study maths or English GCSEs, when you will be required to attend an extra day a week.
You will need a two days a week voluntary placement in a veterinary practice, making three days in all for your study programme.
If you are 19 and over, you would be required to attend the college one day a week and a veterinary placement a minimum of one day a week.
