Over the course of half a year, meeting five days each week, learners will build a foundational portfolio of skills, knowledge and evidence covering:
• Unit 01 (Mandatory): Prepare for a career in a chosen uniformed service
o Investigate two service career paths
o Complete self analysis, set SMART targets and develop a personal action plan
o Prepare application materials (CV or application form, personal statement)
o Participate in a real or simulated selection interview and process
o Reflect on performance and update action plan
• Two Optional Units (choose 2): Examples include
o Unit 02: Develop aspects of physical fitness (design and undertake a 6 week training log, measure entry standard fitness tests, evaluate progress)
• Unit 03: Develop leadership skills (analyse leadership styles, lead a small team task, gather feedback and plan improvements)
A blend of theoretical study (handbooks, reports, presentations) and practical tasks (fitness logs, simulated interviews, team challenges)
• Portfolio-based assessment, internally marked and externally quality assured
• On successful completion, learners earn 28 UCAS points (Distinction*) and a clear pathway to Level?3 Diplomas, apprenticeship programmes or direct recruitment into the uniformed services.
This intensive, five day a week timetable ensures learners cover all the guided learning hours within six months, while the 40 hours of independent study enable deep reflection, research and portfolio development.
