College responds to veterinary nursing demand

Nine newly qualified registered veterinary nurses (RVNs) from Duchy College Rosewarne, part of The Cornwall College Group (TCCG), have recently been honoured in a “Celebration of Achievement” day to highlight their significant accomplishments in the veterinary field.

During the morning, proud students, members of staff and industry representatives acknowledged the newly qualified RVNs and celebrated years of hard work and dedication.

Veterinary Surgeon and Director of Beacon VetCare, Colin Whiting, led the awards ceremony and presented the certificates.

Reflecting on the event, Colin expressed his delight and stated: “I was thrilled to be invited to the College and welcome the new generation of qualified registered veterinary nurses to the industry, it’s vital that we celebrate their well-deserved success.”

For Mel Clear, head of veterinary nursing centre at Duchy College Rosewarne, the event was “a special moment of recognition”.

“I am immensely proud of these dedicated individuals who have completed their training and are now embarking on a fulfilling journey in veterinary nursing. Witnessing their growth and commitment has been truly inspiring,” added Mel.

Since gaining his Level 3 Veterinary Nursing qualification, student Luke Shaddock has secured the position of a branch lead nurse at Clifton Villa Veterinary Practice and is currently progressing on the Level 5 Advanced Veterinary Nursing at Duchy College Rosewarne.

Luke said: “Throughout the years, the College has been a fantastic source of support and I’m optimistic that completing the advanced qualification will open more doors for me within the industry.”

A number of veterinary practices in the region have supported the training of Duchy College’s newly qualified RVNs including; Calweton Veterinary Group, Rosemullion Veterinary Practice, Vets4pets Bodmin and Penzance, Kernow Veterinary Group and more.
