Argyle Community Trust – Post-16 Football Education Trial

Argyle Community Trust is inviting talented and ambitious Year 11 footballers to attend our upcoming Post-16 Education Trial – an opportunity designed for players who are ready to take the next step in their football and academic journey.

This academy-style trial gives young players the platform to showcase their technical ability, tactical understanding, physical attributes, and all-round potential in front of Argyle’s qualified coaching and education staff. Throughout the day, participants will immerse themselves in a professional football environment that reflects the standards and expectations of an FA-aligned development programme.

As part of the trial, players will take part in a competitive fixture, allowing them to demonstrate their match intelligence, decision-making, and resilience under pressure. This fixture forms a key element of our talent identification process and offers each player a genuine opportunity to earn a place on our highly respected Post-16 Football Education Programme.

Alongside the on-pitch assessment, attendees will also have the chance to learn more about the educational pathways available within the programme, including the blend of academic study, FA-standard coaching, performance analysis, strength and conditioning, and personal development opportunities delivered by Argyle Community Trust.

Everything you need to know about our taster day (FAQs)

What time do I need to arrive?

Please arrive at 10am and park/meet at the Parsons building (number 6 on the map).

The rest of the day looks like this…

  • 10am register and arrival
  • 10:30-12pm Morning Session – Technical and Tactical input from Argyle Coaches
  • 12-12:30 lunch
  • 12:30pm- 2.30pm – competitive fixture vs Tavistock Development Centre
  • 2pm-3:30pm information and applications

The last session will finish at 2.30pm.

How do I get there?

From the crossroads on the A388 – if coming from Callington turn right, if coming from Launceston turn left. You will then need to take the fourth turning on the right signposted Main Reception. If you are coming from Stoke Climsland village this will be the first turning on the left.

When you arrive please go to main reception. Marshalls will be in place to show you where to park.

Do I need to bring food?

Unfortunately, during half term our amazing café and restaurant is closed (so you’ll have to wait to try them out!). Therefore we suggest bringing a packed lunch and drinks. We also have vending machines around campus so you may want to bring some cash. Complimentary tea and coffee will also be provided from 3.00pm.

Can parents and guardians come along?

We want to make sure the taster is as close to a day at college as possible, so whilst parents and guardians are very welcome to stay, the sessions are for potential students only. However, if you would like to stay to support your child or discuss any additional support they might need, please discuss this with our team beforehand who will be more than happy to make any arrangements necessary.

What else do I need to bring?

In addition to normal clothes, you will need the following depending on which session(s) you choose!

Football
Sportswear (t-shirt, shorts, track suit), football kit including football boots & shin pads, trainers, waterproofs, shower kit (if you would like to have a shower afterwards)

Please only book a ticket for the person looking to studying at Duchy College Stoke Climsland.
