Course information

Three students standing in a calf pen This exciting new apprenticeship standard is to prepare you for operationally managing livestock related tasks on the farm and develop business productivity and efficiency. This apprenticehip will be a mixture of college and online delivery with farm visits incoroparated in the programme. You will come away with expanded knowledge, skills and behaviours in the running of a livestock unit.

The apprenticeship covers animal health and welfare from conception and birth through to the customer; and to support business productivity. Learners will make key decisions on a day-to-day basis to ensure the protection of their own and health and safety of others. This includes ensuring the standards of cross compliance, farm assurance, biosecurity and infrastructure security are met.

The role will include the safe use and maintenance of farm vehicles, including the equipment used for transporting or producing feed.

The individual will be required to understand, record and meet the business Key Performance Indicators that are set out by the employer.

Four or more GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and maths, or successful completion of a relevant Level 2 qualification

End Point Assessment of Multiple Choice, Professional Discussion and Practical Assessment

Progress onto a L4 programme and/or employment
