Equine Taster
Lungeing or long reining is an essential exercise to train and develop a horse’s way of going. As a groom, rider or trainer you will be expected to carry out non-ridden exercise and training as part of your job.
On the course you will go through correct tacking up for lungeing and long reining, watch demonstrations by the equestrian centre team, and then have a go yourself.
You will learn about safe practices and how to control the horse with voice commands and body language. This course is suitable for those wishing to develop their skills and work towards industry exams or just starting to work with horses from the ground.
What you will learn
On this course you will:
- Learn safe practices for tacking up
- Develop practical lungeing & long reigning skills
- Learn how to use voice commands and body language correctly when working horses from the ground
Entry requirements
Own riding hat to current safety standards, gloves & sturdy boots.
Progression
City & Guilds Technical Certificate in Equine Care
City & Guilds Technical Diploma in Equine Management
BHS qualifications for working in the industry
