You’ll be exposed to a wide range of Uniformed Services employers and experience life in uniform daily at college and during your visits to numerous armed forces and emergency services training establishments.
Our training wing features industry-standard equipment and a disciplined environment, exactly like an initial phase one training establishment. We have a strong collaborative relationship with the Royal Marines, British Army, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, Police, Fire Service, Prison Services and Private Security organisations. As a Level 2 course, this diploma is all about introducing you to the uniformed services industry and developing your essential skills. You’ll be learning from highly experienced armed forces and emergency services professionals, who are there to give you the very best start to your career. Completion of our level 2 will enable progression onto our flagship level 3 service preparation course.
What you will learn
This one-year introduction will explain the numerous uniformed services career options and entry requirements as well as hands on experience with service kit and equipment, physical training preparation and terminology used in the uniformed services industry.
By gaining an introduction to service careers, developing your teamwork and physical fitness and your self-confidence you will be prepared for the more specialised command and control, leadership and physical and mental resilience elements of further qualifications.
Entry requirements
GCSE Level 3 English and Level 3 Maths
Work experience
You will join the uniformed services on bespoke residential work experiences with both the Armed Forces and Emergency Services. Here you will get to experience life as a service recruit and as a fully trained member of the uniformed services.
Assessment
You will be assessed through practical observations, assignments and completion of unit workbooks. You will study 9 modules which are progressive and sequenced to advance your prior experiences. There are no exams.
Progression
Once you’ve finished the Level 2 course, you’ll have a strong understanding of uniformed services careers and the selection process. You will have developed your teamwork, communication and confidence. You would have also developed a positive level of physical endurance and mental resilience ready to progress to our Level 3 course.
