Course information

Gamekeeping former student Conor Raffe This is an all-round introductory qualification that’s great for those who have a passion for the environment and want to gain specialist skills working outdoors. The course is designed to offer you a broad base of knowledge and practical skills which you can use to progress onto a further course within our Land and Environment Department.

Health and safety
Work experience
Machinery
Conservation of British habitats
Estate maintenance
Species ID and surveying
Environmental conservation
Land and countryside use
Countryside interpretation and recreation
Functional Skills or GCSE in English and Maths depending on previous qualifications

4 GCSE’s: Maths and/or English at grade 4 (the other needs to be at a grade 3).
Science at grade 3.
2 other GCSE at grade 3.

Mandatory work experience for minimum of 150 hours

Assessed through examinations and controlled synoptic assessments

Progress on to a Level 3 Diploma
