Works Pathway: Supported Internship

Foundation learning students in a kitchen preparing food Are you looking to move into the world of employment? Our Vocational Academy’s Works Pathway: Supported Internship develops and prepares you for employment.

This programme has a clear focus to prepare you for employment. If you have a genuine desire to get a job and you can demonstrate an excellent record of behaviour and attendance, then this course is ideal for you.

This programme is for three (3) days a week.

Our vision is to support you to be INDEPENDENT, CONFIDENT AND RESILIENT so that you are well-prepared to engage with the wider community.

What you will learn

Throughout this study programme, you will spend one day a week in college where you will participate in employment related workshops and develop your English and maths skills. For two days a week, we will work with you to seek supported employment opportunities within your local area.

Entry requirements

To be eligible for this programme you need to be aged between 16 and 24 with a current Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

Assessment

You should expect to carry out a two day per week work placement with an employer, possibly supported by a Job Coach. You will also further-develop the skills you need to be successful in employment including English, mathematics.

Progression

On successful completion of this programme, you may to progress onto a traineeship, voluntary or supported paid employment
